Gorillaz return to multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since 2006, with two new songs from the cartoon band's new album, The Now Now, due June 29.
"Humility," featuring jazz guitar legend George Benson and serving as the lead single from the new set, starts at No. 7 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart (dated June 16) on the strength of 7.5 million U.S. streams and 8,000 downloads sold in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music.
The track also becomes both Gorillaz and Benson's first entry on the Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart, starting at No. 40, while also bubbling under Alternative Songs.
"Humility" concurrently debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 85, marking the first appearance on the chart for Gorillaz since 2006 and Benson's first since 1985. Gorillaz last made the Hot 100 with "Dare" in 2006; their top-charting hit, "Feel Good Inc.," peaked at No. 14 in August 2005.
