Joan Jett
Magnolia is targeting a 2018 theatrical release.
Bad Reputation, the feature documentary about rocker Joan Jett, has been acquired by Magnolia Pictures for North America.
Kevin
Kerslake directed the doc that had its world premiere at the Sundance
Film Festival. It follows Jett from her early years ripping it up
onstage as the founder and backbone of the hard-rock legends The
Runaways and first meeting collaborator Kenny Laguna in 1980 to her
enduring presence in pop culture as a rock and roll pioneer.
Joel Marcus wrote the feature, which was produced by Peter Afterman
and Carianne Brinkman. Dan Braun of Submarine exec produced, along with
Justus Haerder and Kathy Rivkin-Daum for music company BMG, which solely
financed the project. Co-producers are Alessandra Pasquino and Margaret
Yen.
The deal was negotiated by Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers. Magnolia is targeting a 2018 theatrical release for the film.
