Foo Fighters Will Perform at the Brit Awards For the First Time

Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters performs at the Voodoo Music Experience in City Park on Oct. 28, 2017 in New Orleans

There goes my hero: Foo Fighters, the multi-platinum, festival-headlining, stadium superstars will perform on the Brit Awards stage next month for the very first time.

The Foos will bring the rock to this year’s program, which includes previously-announced performers Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith and Stormzy. Expect the band to deliver a proper crowd-pleasing moment on the night. Dave Grohl and Co. headlined Glastonbury Festival last year, and they've landed four U.K. chart-topping albums and as many Brit Awards. But, inexplicably, they’ve never played at Britain’s annual industry gala.

The band scored another No. 1 album in the U.K. when Concrete and Gold debuted at the summit last September, following chart leaders with One by One (2002), Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007) and Wasting Light (2011). The U.S. rockers also collected Brit Awards for international album in 2008 and international group in 2008, 2012 and 2015.

“Quite remarkably they have never performed at the Brits, so I am over the moon to confirm a massive Brits exclusive to have them grace our stage,” comments Brits chairman & CEO and chairman of Sony Music U.K. & Ireland Jason Iley in a statement issued Wednesday.

The 2018 Brit Awards will held Feb. 21 at London’s O2 Arena. More performers for the annual industry gala will be announced in the days and weeks ahead, while the full list of nominations will be revealed this Saturday (Jan. 13) during the “BRITs Are Coming” special on ITV.
