Royal Blood Rules Mainstream Rock Songs Chart with 'I Only Lie When I Love You'

  Royal Blood

The second single from Royal Blood's 2017 album is the duo's third No. 1.

(The new survey is dated Jan. 3, marking a rare Wednesday-dated chart, instead of the usual Saturday, as Billboard is adjusting how it dates its charts and magazine issues.)
"Lie" is Royal Blood's second No. 1 from its 2017 sophomore release, How Did We Get So Dark. "Lights Out" ruled for three weeks beginning Aug. 26. "Lie" is also the duo's third No. 1 in a row, as "Little Monster," the single preceding "Lights Out" from the band's 2014 self-titled album, reigned for one week (July 25, 2015).

"Lie" bullets at No. 13 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock Airplay chart (after reaching No. 12), earning 5 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen Music. The song has also peaked at No. 19 on the Alternative Songs airplay chart; it bullets at No. 20 on the latest list and hits a new high in weekly plays.
When Did We Get So Dark debuted at No. 2 on the Hard Rock Albums chart dated July 8, earning 20,000 equivalent units in its first week.
