Adam Levine, Billy Joel, Ellen DeGeneres Among Write-In Candidates in Alabama Senate Race
Following Doug Jones’ win in the Senate special election, the state released the names of the 23,000 write-in candidates, which comically included Kermit the Frog, Tyler Perry and Vladimir Putin.
After Democrat Doug Jones’ recent win
against Republican opponent Roy Moore in the Alabama special Senate
election, the state released the official results, including the names
of the 23,000 write-in candidates, which comically included a number of
Hollywood stars, high-profile figures and fictional characters.
Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner received a write-in vote, along with other TV stars Ellen DeGeneres, Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson and Project Runway’s Tim Gunn. One person also voted for director Tyler Perry.
NBA star and Atlanta native Charles Barkley as well as Adam Levine and Billy Joel also made the list of potential candidates, each receiving their own write-in votes respectively.
Other political figures were voted for, with Donald Trump, George W.
Bush, Bill Clinton and Condoleezza Rice among the names written in. A
few people also cast their votes for Donald Trump Jr. and Vladimir
Putin.
Other comical votes included the characters of Scooby-Doo, Kermit the Frog, SpongeBob SquarePants, Bruce Wayne, Renée Zellweger’s Bridget Jones, Bugs Bunny, To Kill a Mockingbird character Boo Radley and Santa Claus.
Others
used the write-in spot to voice their opinions, voting for “A normal
republican, please,” a “decent republican candidate,” a “neutral third
party” and one even voting for their pet writing, “Jackson, my dog.”
