Trivium Leads Hard Rock Albums Chart, Greta Van Fleet Debuts
Trivium
Trivium scores its second Hard Rock Albums No. 1 with 'The Sin and the Sentence.'
Trivium tallies its second No. 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock Albums chart, while Greta Van Fleet's Black Smoke Rising debuts at No. 10 on the ranking (dated Nov. 11), six months after the EP's release.
Trivium bows with The Sin and the Sentence,
which earned 18,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 26,
according to Nielsen Music. The set starts at No. 3 on the Top Rock Albums chart, where it's the group's fifth top 10, and No. 23 on the Billboard 200, marking the band's sixth top 40 entry.
The heavy metal act's eighth studio album follows its first Hard Rock Albums leader, 2011's In Waves. Since then, 2013's Vengeance Falls bowed and peaked at No. 2, while its last LP, 2015's Silence in the Snow, hit No. 3.
The new set's lead single, "The Heart From Your Hate," bullets at its No. 27 high on the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart in its seventh week.
Meanwhile, Greta Van Fleet's star continues to brighten as the band's debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, debuts at Nos. 10, 30 and 182, respectively, on Hard Rock Albums, Top Rock Albums and the Billboard 200 (with 5,000 units).
Released April 21, the set from the Michigan band – whose members rage from age 18 to 21 – arrives at last with a 74 percent increase in consumption, sparked by multiple factors in the tracking week, including a Wall Street Journal profile, a tweet from Kings of Leon's Nathan Followill calling the act his "new favorite band" and a win for best new artist at the Loudwire Music Awards.
Additionally, the band announced Oct. 25 that follow-up From the Fires is due Nov. 10. The set is an eight-song effort that will include the four songs from Black Smoke Rising and four new cuts. Two Smoke tracks have reached Mainstream Rock Songs: "Highway Tune," which ruled for five weeks (beginning Sept. 16), and "Safari Song," which rises 26-24 on the latest ranking.
Eleven Seven's Three-Peat: Meanwhile, Eleven Seven Label Group celebrates its second week with three songs in the Mainstream Rock Songs top five, by Nothing More ("Go to War"), Papa Roach ("American Dreams") and HellYeah ("Love Falls"), at Nos. 2, 4 and 5, respectively.
The label is the first to triple up in the region this decade and the first since April 11, 2009, when Roadrunner charted, at Nos. 3-5, respectively, with Theory of a Deadman ("Hate My Life"), Slipknot ("Dead Memories") and Nickelback ("Something in Your Mouth").
