R&B and rock n' roll pioneer Fats Domino died at the age of 89
on Wednesday (Oct. 25). Several hours after the news broke, the iconic
Little Richard spoke to Billboard about Domino, who was one of the few
artists who can claim to have started rocking before Richard.
"He's
the greatest entertainer that I ever known," Richard said. "Black,
white, red, brown or yellow, he's a just good guy and I thank God for
giving me the opportunity to know him. I love him."
Many other artists have paid homage to Domino today as well,
from LL Cool J to Darius Rucker to Harry Connick Jr., speaking to
Domino's extensive, eclectic impact on generations of musicians.
