St. Vincent Performs Two New Songs on 'The Late Show': Watch
St. Vincent performs on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Oct. 4, 2017
Annie Clark, best known by her stage moniker St. Vincent, dropped by the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (Oct. 4) to perform “New York” and “Los Ageless,” two singles off her upcoming album, MASSEDUCTION.
Both
performances reflected the strong dichotomy in Clark’s music. “New
York” resonated in its simplicity, a plaintive, lovelorn ballad that she
sang from behind her microphone stand, accompanied only by a masked
pianist. “Los Ageless,” meanwhile, is a sultry electro-rock dirge
punctuated by slabs of electric guitar, which Clark performed in front
of three pairs of black leather boots kicking from behind a red curtain.
Accordingly, Clark also recorded two versions of MASSEDUCTION:
an official, instrumentally lush excursion and a stripped-down set
featuring only piano and vocals. The album comes out Friday, Oct. 13.
