Portugal. The Man's 'Feel It Still' Hits No. 1 on Hot Rock Songs Chart
Portugal. The Man
The band's first leader supplants Imagine Dragons' "Believer," which ruled for 29 weeks.
Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart welcomes its first new No. 1 since March, as Portugal. The Man earns its first leader on the list with "Feel It Still" riding 2-1 on the survey dated Oct. 14.
The new chart champ snaps the 29-week reign of Imagine Dragons' "Believer," the second-longest rule in the ranking's eight-year history, after Twenty One Pilots' 30-week reign with "Heathens" (2016-17).
The
new No. 1 gives the chart just two new leaders in 2017. Comparatively,
2016 saw four new toppers, with "Heathens" joined by Twenty One Pilots'
"Stressed Out" and "Ride" plus Prince's 1984 classic "Purple Rain," which led for a week following his April passing.
"Still" is Portugal. The Man's first No. 1 on Hot Rock Songs in just its second visit; "People Say" peaked at No. 31 in 2011.
Meanwhile, "Still' (atop the all-rock genre Rock Airplay chart for a 10th week, with 13 million in rock audience, according to Nielsen Music) spends a 15th week at No. 1 on the Alternative Songs airplay chart, joining only eight other songs to reach that status and tying for the seventh-most weeks on top all-time with Linkin Park's "What I've Done" and Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy."
The record, however, is still a few weeks off: Muse's 'Madness' leads with 19 weeks at No. 1 on Alternative Songs in 2012-13.
"Still" currently bullets at No. 4 on Adult Pop Songs and No. 6 on Pop Songs and jumps 10-7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
