U2 Send Love Letter to New York With 'You're The Best Thing About Me' Video: Watch
U2, "You’re The Best Thing About Me"
U2 have
shared their love affair with all things American before. Hell, they
made a whole album and documentary about it, with 1988's Rattle and Hum.
But
in their new Jonas Akerlund-directed video for "You're The Best Thing
About Me" the Irish superstars focus their attention firmly on New York
City, taking viewers on a patriotic four-minute travelogue that starts
with a longing look at Lady Liberty and includes visits to the tops of
some of the city's most iconic buildings, a double-decker bus tour under
American flag umbrellas, walking street slices of pizza, lots of
selfies with fans, some shots and pints at a pub, a cruise in a classic
car and a rooftop gig.
"Best Thing" is the first official single from the band's upcoming 14th album, Songs of Experience,
slated for release on an as-yet-unannounced date later this year. The
visual love letter to NY (and to Bono's wife, Ali) is fitting for the
band who played their first club gig in the city in December 1980. The
clip was filmed earlier this month during the group's current tour.
