Original Misfits Lineup Adds Second 2017 Reunion Show Featuring Alkaline Trio
Glenn Danzig performs during Riot Fest and Carnival at Humboldt Park on Sept. 13, 2013 in Chicago
Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and company will headline Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Dec. 28.
Last month, Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and company announced just one lone Misfits
show for 2017 -- a Dec. 30 gig at the Forum in Los Angeles, which sold
out in less than a minute. With demand high and a pair of successful 2016 Riot Fest gigs still fresh on their minds, the iconic horror-punk band have decided to come back for more.
On
Monday (Sept. 25), the band announced a second date that will bring
this gold-standard Misfits iteration to Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden
Arena on Dec. 28.
Various pre-sale tickets go on sale between
Tuesday and Thursday, with the general sale beginning at 10 a.m. local
time on Friday. Details are here.
Last September’s Riot Fest shows (first in Denver, then Chicago)
featured vocalist Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only playing together
for the first time in 33 years; unless any other gigs are added, the
Vegas and L.A. performances will be their third and fourth shows back.
The current lineup also features guitarists Doyle Wolfgang von
Frankenstein and Acey Slade alongside drummer Dave Lombardo. With the
driving force behind Slayer's
classic albums behind the kit, last year's Misfits shows were quite
formidable and this year's ticket buyers have reason to set the bar
high despite the band's volatile reputation.
Support for the new Vegas show features long-running L.A. punks Fear and the not-quite-as-long-running -- yet famously Misfits-indebted -- Alkaline Trio. The latter is also opening the L.A. show, along with Discharge.
