Jamie Lidell Debuts 'What Are You Afraid Of' Video
Jamie Lidell
Jamie Lidell is premiering a two-headed monster on Thursday (Sept. 28) with a new Hanging Out With Audiophiles podcast and
a video for "What Are You Afraid Of." In the podcast, according to a
press release, Lidell "explores the creative process of making music in
modern studios with colleagues, friends, engineers and fellow
audiophiles."
Hanging Out With Audiophiles'
second episode has Lidell chilling with producer Jacquire King, best
known for producing, engineering and mixing for Kings of Leon, James
Bay, Norah Jones, Modest Mouse and many other artists. The series' first
episode debuted on Sept. 5 and featured Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney delving into the nuances of producing and manipulating audio. You can listen to the full first episode here for free.
All episodes of the pod are available exclusively through Apple Music.
"I don't think there is such a thing as failure because failure, at
least in the way I interpret the word, failure is when you stop trying,"
King tells Lidell and the listening audience. "When you just give up.
... The independent record-makers, they got some gear and they just
figured out how to make records."
In the music video, Lidell is
in the studio mixing his own beats for the first minute and 20 seconds
before he starts to sing "What Are You Afraid Of" off of his new
three-song EP Extended Beginnings, which is -- you guessed it -- an extension of his 2016 album Building A Beginning.
The other two songs on the EP are titled "Love Me Please" and "You Rewind"
