Robert Plant has announced a 2018 North American tour named after his new album Carry Fire, which will arrive on Friday, Oct. 13. This will be the 11th solo album release for Plant (best known as the lead singer for Led Zeppelin), and first since 2014.
On Tuesday (Sept. 26) Plant released a single off of Carry Fire titled
"Bluebirds Over The Mountain" featuring Chrissie Hynde. A press release
states that "Bluebirds Over The Mountain" was produced by Ersel Hickey
and recorded later by Richie Valens and The Beach Boys.
The 69-year-old rocker revealed 12 confirmed North American dates
beginning Feb. 9, 2018, and concluding (for now) on March 2 with more
dates to be announced.
"It's about intention," a statement on Carry Fire from
Plant reads. "I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel
the trawl and incentive to create new work. I must mix old with new.
Consequently the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis
somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and
dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation."
Plant is
"committed to getting tickets into the hands of his fans and not
scalpers or bots" and because of that is "collaborating with
Ticketmaster to sell Presale tickets through its Verified Fan program."
You can sign up for that program here through Wednesday (Sept. 27) until noon eastern.
